2005 Presentation Night

Held on Friday 14th October 2005 at the Kiln Farm Sports and Social Club, the event was well attended. The curry buffet provided from the Indigo restaurant went down well with the team and a number of the locals who stepped in to finish off what Simon could not!

Our chairman, John Howe, was the master of ceremonies and presented most of the awards.

The pictures below were taken by our resident photographer Janet Howe (thanks for going back to get a camera as the rest of us numptys had all forgotten!)

Best Batting Performance - Neil Bright
With the top 3 batting performances this season, Neil richly deserved this award for one of the best knocks we have ever seen, scoring 123 away at Willoughby 'A'
Breaking with tradition, Neil was presented with a hip flask - presumably for his pre match brandy!
Best Overall Batsman - Neil Bright
Not only a high scorer, Neil consistently put in a good performance, averaging over 35 (10 more than the next best)

Best Overall Bowler - Steve Horspool
A tight run competition this year with some strong bowing performances from several team members. Ian Bryer took 23 wickets with good averages, Neil Bright put in some great performances, taking 27 wickets but the trophy was won by Steve with a total of 29 wickets, including two 5 wicket hauls.
Best Bowling Performance - Ashley Portlock
There have been a number of performances that could have taken this award and the committee take into account the circumstances as well as the statistics.
Worthy of note were Neil Bright's 7-21 against Wardington, Steve Horspool's 5-24 against Helmsdon and Ian Bryer's 4-9 at Marston St Lawrence.
But the winning performance was in recognition of the rejuvenated bowling of Ashley Portlock taking 5 wickets for only 18 runs at Warwick University 'A'. Robbie Horspool stepped up to accept the award on Ashley's behalf.

Fielding Trophy - Simon Jones
Despite having the most recorded catches this season, the committee took into account the drunken debacle at Helmdon where Robbie dropped 3 catches.
For his consistently high quality performances behind the stumps, Simon deservedly picked up this award.
Captain's Trophy - Alex Fuller
This prize has gone to our most improved player of the season. Alex has transformed himself this season, proving to be a very competent fielder having taken a number of great catches, being willing to turn his arm over and taking a couple of wickets and putting in some entertaining batting performances.
Of special note was his supporting batting role with Mark Lewis at Wardington, Alex going in to bat with a low score on the board but setting a target that allowed the team to win the match.
Proud dad, Neil, stepped up to accept the award from Robbie Horspool as Alex has gone off to university.

Chairman's Award Ian Bryer & Greville Coe
This award is often given for services rendered to the club as opposed to performances on the field. On this occasion there were two recipients, for their work on the club web site. The new web site with its information, statistics and match reports has proved to be popular with existing club members and new recruits.
Andy Bullen Trophy (Best All Rounder) - Neil Bright
Neil's batting performance outshone the rest of the team, his bowling was a close second, including a great performance of 7-21 against Wardington, along with a solid fielding performance makes Neil a great all rounder and the deserved winner of the club's most prestigious award.

Champagne Moment - Ian Bryer
The first of the fun awards is normally given for someone making a fool of themselves so Greville throwing his gloves at Ashley and Ashley falling off a football were prime candidates for the award.
This season the award was won for a real cricketing event, Ian's one handed diving catch at point to dismiss the Wardington Captain for a golden duck.
Running Race - Greville Coe
The inaugural running race was instigated by Steve, making all the team run with full pads and a bat.
After two heats the final was won by Greville with Steve a close second.
